Building Africa's Waste Economy

Connecting households, waste collectors, municipalities, recyclers and waste-to-energy facilities through one intelligent platform.

Our vision

Waste is not a problem.
Waste is an opportunity.

Every bag collected is a data point, a job, a raw material and a tonne of carbon avoided. BAALO turns that flow into infrastructure.

About BAALO

Founded by a systems thinker with a vision for Africa.

Kweku Quansah

Founder & Chief Vision Officer, BAALO

Kweku Quansah is a U.S.-trained architect, urban strategist and infrastructure developer with more than two decades of experience delivering complex projects across healthcare, real estate and institutional infrastructure.

His work has focused on designing systems that improve how people live, work and access essential services. Throughout his career, he has led multidisciplinary teams involved in master planning, healthcare infrastructure, urban development and investment advisory across Africa.

He has played leadership roles in the planning and development of major institutional projects through organizations including DEL International Hospital and Alchem Global Group, where he has advised governments, investors and private institutions on infrastructure, healthcare, urban development and sustainable growth.

Today, Kweku is applying that same systems-thinking approach to one of Africa’s greatest challenges—and opportunities: waste.

Rather than viewing waste as a sanitation problem, he believes it is an economic resource capable of creating jobs, improving public health, generating clean energy and unlocking billions of dollars in new investment across the continent. This belief inspired the creation of BAALO.

What is BAALO?

One platform. Six ecosystems.

BAALO is the operating layer between everyone who creates, moves, processes and finances waste.
